Sanjhi art and Rangoli designs
Sanjhi is a traditional art form from Vrajarooted in the folk mythology of the region. The sanjhi is an octagonal design about 1,50 m in diameter, which is created from natural colors with the help of stencils. At the center of the sanjhi, a mythological scene is depicted, which is surrounded by artfully interlocked, sophisticated decorative elements expanding towards the eight directions. Rangoli designs too are strewn from natural colors; in India, these are created on festive occasions at the doorsteps of temples and homes as symbols of good fortune.
